Green is one of my favorite colors so I was pleased when Pantone announced Greenery as its colors of the year. Greenery is rather bright however, which can present some challenges in decorating with it. Check out these tips for using this fun, energizing color without overwhelming your home or your wallet.
How To Incorporate Greenery Without Breaking The Bank
Maybe it was partially inspired by Kermit the Frog, following the 2016 Evil Kermit meme that went viral. Or more realistically, maybe it has to do with houseplants becoming a recent interior design trend. Whatever the reason, a particular shade of green is officially 2017’s “it” color: specifically, Pantone recently named “Greenery” as its Color of the Year.
Pantone describes the color as “a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.”
If you’re a fan of the color and like to stay on top of interior home trends, here are some inexpensive ideas to decorate with it around the house.
Accent Walls and Art
Sometimes all a room needs is a pop of color. One simple way to make a statement is with a greenery-colored accent wall. If you want something a bit subtler, you can always skip the paint and opt for some unique wall art instead. There’s a variety of tapestries and photo and painting prints on canvas that you can hang. Check out this print or this tapestry, for example.
If you don’t want to commit to green cabinets or bar stools in your kitchen, consider buying a greenery-inspired dinnerware set. Wayfair offers different options in a variety of sizes.
As mentioned earlier, decorating around the house with plants is a popular trend. It makes sense when you think about it: plants add a nice touch of color and are a breath of fresh air. Snake plants, spider plants and lucky bamboo are just a few examples of some inexpensive and low maintenance options.
Throw Pillows, Rugs and Blankets
Brighten up your living room with greenery throw pillows, a rug, or a blanket. There are all kinds of patterns and designs to choose from, including ones with prints on theme. Check out these pillows from Zazzle.
Bath Towels and Shower Curtains
If your bathroom could use some greenery, updating your towel set is an easy option that doesn’t have to cost much money. Or if your shower curtain is outdated, you can change it out for a newer, greener one.
