Fall is here! Well, sort of. It’s still hot and humid here in Austin and elsewhere, but I can see the temperatures dipping in parts of the country and the Rockies got snow earlier this week!

For the last few weeks, JR and I have spent the bulk of our free time watching the US Open and working on projects for our new house. And of course watching football!

What an Open! So many excellent matches. Loved seeing Angelique Kerber become number 1 and win her second major, the excellent performance of Juan Martin del Potro, the great run by Americans Jack Sock and Jared Donaldson (we saw him in Cincinnati – the future of US men’s tennis is bright!).

From a football standpoint, we were invited to attend the Houston Texans home opener, which was a blast (and yay! they won!!) and we’ve loved watching the Texas Longhorns win their first two games – what a thriller over Notre Dame. The Rice Owls are unfortunately having a poor start to their season, but hopefully things will pick up in the coming weeks.

And then there is our new house…we are getting very excited about it and wish it were done and we could move in right now! But, still lots to do. The exterior repairs and paint are complete, the HVAC repairs are 95% done, and the electrical upgrades are about 90% complete. We’ve finished installing a new shower system in the master and almost finished painting the master suite. The kitchen project is underway and the interior paint should be done in the next 2 weeks. I’ve had a blast looking at and buying new furniture.

Fall is one of my favorite times. Even though I’m no longer in school and don’t have kids, I’ve always felt like the beginning of fall is a time of change and opportunity. Some have even dubbed it a “second New Years Day”. I hope you are having a wonderful fall and feeling full of opportunity.
