In central Texas, it is still HOT! I generally love the nearly year-round warm weather, but come mid-September I am itching to wear sweaters, jeans and boots. At least fall tennis and football are underway!
JR and I spent the beginning of September catching up on reading, wrapping up current seasons of some favorite TV shows, kicking off fall tennis leagues, and watching football.
Our favorite books of the summer were Seveneves by Neal Stephenson and The Martian by Andy Weir. Both are “sci-fi”/disaster type stories; while I’m not huge on sci-fi, I did very much enjoy the problem solving, fantasy, and challenge aspects of both of these stories. I highly recommend Seveneves; the movie version of The Martian will be in theaters on October 2.
As for TV, our favorite summer show is So You Think You Can Dance, and this season’s challenge of “Stage vs. Street” was a fun new twist to the contest. The final two dancers were our favorites. The SYTYCD tour is on the road now – check it out if you love dance. Another show we highly recommend is Bloodline on Netflix. Bloodline stars Kyle Chandler (forever “Coach Taylor”!!!), Linda Cardellini and Sissy Spacek. Ben Mendelsohn is a standout in the series as well. And of course, we had to watch Hard Knocks with the Houston Texans. (I hope their offense and season improve ASAP!)
As a last note, I have to share the wonderful Yelp review I received from a very cute young couple
whose mortgage I did. I LOVE helping people make their home ownership dreams a reality and am so honored by their rating and kind recommendation.
