Two tips for better spring tennis…
The split step gets you ready to hit the ball. By doing it correctly, you add explosiveness to your movement and your ability to change directions on a dime is much improved. After spending the winter skiing more than playing tennis, focusing on my split step is critical to getting my feet moving again.
Be like Novak and stretch! Stretching improves your flexibility (duh), balance and movement, plus can help minimize soreness and tightness after a match. Personally, I stretch all through a match, after a match, and several times during the week. The more I stretch, the better I feel on court and off.
